Esther 4:14 NLT If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?

This Sunday morning, across the pond and unable to attend church in person, I turned to my home church’s YouTube channel. As I scrolled through their past sermons, one series caught my eye: a study on the book of Esther, dating from June 13, 2021. No other series seemed to stand out, but something about this one drew me in—perhaps it was the Holy Spirit at large guiding me. So, I pressed play. Once the sermon was over, I found myself reflecting on my time here in England and the part of the verse that states “made for such a time as this.” The cloudy skies outside my window mirrored the sermon’s contemplative mood, making it feel more fitting for today’s reflection. What followed was a powerful reminder of God’s timing, His silent yet sovereign hand always at work, and how He places us exactly where we need to be, “for such a time as this.”
Here is the sermon should you choose to watch it. https://youtu.be/LaSECegRenQ?si=-g25ZzyHkHIz2pzO

Esther’s journey is a testament to how God’s plans often remain hidden in the ordinary moments of life. Born into Jewish descent and orphaned at a young age, Esther was raised by her cousin Mordecai in a foreign land. Persia, under the reign of King Xerxes, was a place of opulence, power, and unpredictability—hardly a place where an ordinary Jewish girl would expect her life to hold significant purpose.
Yet, through a series of extraordinary events, Esther was chosen to be queen, a position she never could have imagined for herself. But her story wasn’t just about royalty; it was about courage, faith, and obedience to God’s unseen hand (even though in the book, God is never directly mentioned.) At a pivotal moment, when her people faced annihilation, Mordecai challenged her with these timeless words: “Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
This story reminds us that even when we can’t see the full picture, God is always orchestrating His plan. He uses the ordinary, unexpected, and even difficult circumstances of our lives to accomplish something greater than we could ever envision. Through various stages of life, it can be challenging to trust God’s timing, but the King’s timing is never late, and His purpose is always on time.
God’s call for each of us may not look like Esther’s, but it’s no less significant. Whether you’re raising a family, building a career, working a typical 9-5, or, like me, exploring life in a foreign country, you were created ‘for such a time as this.’ We may not always see the big picture, but no matter the situation we can trust that God’s plans are always good. So, I challenge you: where might God be calling you to step out in faith today?
Wherever you are today—whether it’s in a new city, a challenging job, or a season of waiting—remember that you are here ‘for such a time as this.’ My prayer is that you would find peace and courage in His plan for your life, just as I am learning to do in mine.
